Brochure series

LAMBDA ELECTRONICS has produced a series of brochures on its new Energy Systems, a line of rack-mounted, high-density, hotswappable switchmode power supplies and equipment for telecom plants. Each four-page brochure provides product descriptions, full-color photos,

product data, specifications, and schematics for the power modules, switch-load rectifiers, low-voltage disconnects, and AC and DC distribution panels. Lambda's Energy Systems line is designed for use in telephone central office exchanges, wireless base stations, transmission equipment, data communications, PBXs, and for broadband equipment.

Modular power system

FULLY INTEGRATED DIGITAL DC POWER source for wireless and wireline applications offers the telecommunications market flexibility. RELTEC Corp. has expanded its Vortex Power System. New enhancements include a meter-control-alarm (MCA) that monitors and controls up to 56 power control units (PCUs) simultaneously. Operators can scroll through a menu, select parameters for all PCUs affected, and set values. When set, the MCA distributes the new value to all PCUs in the system. The MCA also displays system inventory and allows adjustment of alarm set-points.

The Vortex Power System can be installed with as little as 200 amps and incrementally upgraded to provide as much as 10,000 amps of network power. A proprietary software program, Vortex Link, is a Windows-based remote-access option that permits network operators to control and interact with the power system from remote locations.

Surge protector for wireless

HEAVY-DUTY AC POWER PROTECTION is designed for wireless base stations and cellular sites. Citel, Inc. has produced its DS150E combining three layers of MOVs and thermal fuses. It is available for 110-120V AC and 220-250V AC networks. Citel DS 150E has a power dissipation capability of 140kA. The compact unit is UL 1449 2nd edition listed and CSA approved. DS1 50E comes with visual indicators and remote signaling and is DINrail mountable.

Protection against interference

POWER SUPPLIES offer CE compliance, high performance, DIN-rail mounting, and tight regulation for industrial applications. Murrelektronik, Inc. has designed its MPS Series of single- and three-phase power supplies to be resistant to harmonic noise interference, short circuit, overload, and phase failure. The efficient, low-heat MPS Series products are ideal for harsh industrial environments such as factories, automotive, assembly, and production lines. Internal circuitry provides isolation and protection against voltage surges and spikes. Drops of 10% in voltage supply will not affect consistency of output. On the three-phase models, phase failure monitoring is provided.

Telecom rectifiers

AC/DC RECTIFIERS pack 7.8 watts per cubic inch of power into a 4U-high hot-pluggable package designed for critical fault-tolerant applications in telecom, network data, and other distributed power systems. Advance Power has developed the MRF2800 to offer an efficiency of 91% including series output diode and active input power factor correction to minimize harmonic distortion. Each fan-cooled unit delivers up to 2,800 watts of output power and can include a comprehensive alarm signals package with front panel LED meters. The slightly larger MRF28E package includes input/output breakers and the digital front panel display.

Fail-safe power

EXTERNAL AC BATTERY eliminator powers up to 5 LEM-flex current probes, providing hours of back-up power. PowerCET Corp. has produced the Model A-LEM-5BE Battery Eliminator for use with popular LEM-flex current probes. The Battery Eliminator plugs directly into any 120v/60Hz outlet and provides 3VDC @ 1A output, adequate for powering five AC-current probes. In the event of a power outage, the user is assured of two hours of power monitoring with five probes and up to 10 hours of back-up power with only one connected probe.

The package also includes an AC power adaptor, five remote DC power cables, and a padded carrying case.

PANEL SURGE PROTECTION series can be configured for 150,000A to 600,000A. Atlantic Scientific Corp. has produced the ZoneMaster PLUS series of upgradable protection modules. Reliable performance is achieved through the use of ultra-low impedance copper busbar construction. ZoneMaster PLUS offers specifiers with options including an extended range filter that eliminates load or line noise, a surge counter, and an audio/visual panel alarm (remote installation optional).

Rack' em up

USER-CONFIGURABLE AND EXPANDABLE system is designed to offer total flexibility to meet enterprise requirements. American Reliance (AMREL) offers the PD Series (20-600 Watts) in a modular or standalone format. The PD Series quarter-rack power supply delivers linear performance with virtually unlimited combinations, such as a single benchtop unit or a "multiunit modular system."

AMREL'S PD quarter-mount with single or dual output is available as a standalone master or "slaved device." As an integrated master the PD quarter-mount can control up to eight auxiliary-slaved power channels--allowing you to save on valuable GPIB address space when necessary.
