What's your angle?

PROVIDE ADDITIONAL MOUNTING DEPTH for data/communications inserts. Wiremold Company has produced an angled adapter for installing connectivity inserts in surface raceways. The Interlink Activate Angled Raceway Adapter effectively moves the connection out of the raceway while still providing physical protection to sensitive components. While allowing for depth important to coaxial-type connections and maintaining the cable fill ratio of the raceway, the adapter's design helps to ensure the required bend radius for Category 5 and fiber optic cabling.

The Angled Raceway Adapter is compatible with a broad range of snap-in inserts for UTP, fiber optic, audio, and video cabling. It accepts two 2A-size inserts, supporting multimedia capability at a single point of use.--Wiremold Co.

Secure CO-to-CPE test

REMOTE TEST SET from IC Engineering allows security-protected remote access to central office switches and customer premise equipment. The RTS-2 Remote Test Set is an 8-port unit that maintains any existing connection between the CO lines and the CPE lines until accessed. Either loop- or ground-start lines may be utilized.

The RTS-2 generates test tones that are activated upon command. Individual ports can be configured for responder behavior, so that the device answers and provides a 1,000 Hz tone without access codes.

The first CO line connected to the RTS-2 is used for access. Once accessed with a correct test code, test calls can be placed through any of the remaining ports. An accessor can disconnect from the test call on the outgoing port while remaining in test mode, ready to place a new call on the same or different outgoing port. Many other capabilities.--IC Engineering

Get loose

SIMPLIFY SYSTEM DESIGN and reduce cost to the installer and the customer. Siecor's FREEDM optical fiber cable is fully compliant with current standards for cable and wiring. The FREEDM cable offers the environmental, moisture, and sunlight resistance of an outdoor cable combined with the flame retardancy of an indoor, riser-rated cable. With loose-tube indoor/ outdoor cable, costly conduit or a building entrance transition splicing can now be avoided when the indoor routing distance is more than 50 feet. Siecor's cable even allows routing from the building entrance directly up a riser shaft to an intermediate cross-connect or horizontal closet because it is riser-rated.--Siecor Corp.

Media converters

EXTEND NETWORK DISTANCES by up to 28,000 meters by using single-mode fiber. Omnitron Systems, a provider of LAN and AS/400 network connectivity products, has manufactured a line of media converters that enable 100Base Fast Ethernet connection between several fiber options and unshielded twisted pair (UTP). The FlexPoint 100 FX/TX converters function in either full- or half-duplex mode to increase data rates to 200 Mbps. The mode is switch-selectable, allowing manual control of the variable duplex operation. When set at auto negotiation, the converter auto-senses the capacity of the connected device on the UTP port and adapts to the highest available bandwidth. Available in SC or ST type connector, the FlexPoint 100 FX/TX extends network distances up to 28,000 meters, compared with the industry standard of 20,000 meters. The product ships in single-mode and multimode fiber models. Networks deploying multimode fiber can increase distances up to 2,000 meters.--Omnitron Systems Technology, Inc.
