"Smart meetings" launched by Bright Business Media.

Bright Business Media (BBM; Sausalito, CA), a new company formed by former Miller Freeman and Stamats Communications executive Marin Bright, has begun the publication of Smart Meetings magazine. The new monthly has a controlled circulation of 30,000.

Taglined "the intelligent way to

plan," the title is targeted to corporate and association meeting professionals, including meeting planners, corporate management and HR executives, who plan events and meetings in the western United States. Coverage includes Hawaii, Alaska, California, Arizona and Montana, as well as western Canada and Mexico.

The magazine is designed to "examine the meetings industry with a sole focus on the West," BBM said. Each issue of the magazine includes a destination focus, industry feature stories on such topics as budgeting, travel, transportation, incentives and recreation, and industry news. Editorial for 2004 issues includes stories on: golf resorts, spas, renovations and expansions, fitness and well-being meetings, historic properties, summer mountain meetings, dude ranches, family-friendly meetings and gaming.
