ALM Research, a unit of American Lawyer Media (New York), now renamed ALM, Inc., has introduced ALM Research Online, a new web-based service that provides on-demand access to ALM's database of surveys, rankings and lists related to law firms and the legal industry. ALM said the service allows

subscribers to develop customized searches, analyses and comparisons; create reports and charts; and download materials in a spreadsheet.

The database includes current and historical data from industry listings and surveys, including the "Am Law 100/200," the "NLJ 200," the "Diversity Scorecard," the "Billing Survey," and the "Global 100," among others. It also includes law firm data (size, location, ranking, etc.), business metrics and trends, and information on business development opportunities. A three-tier subscription structure offers options ranging from unlimited access to one-time usage.

Also, ALM's Law.com has introduced its Legal Technology Center (www.law.com/tech), a product designed to supply law firm IT professionals with legal technology news, product information, software downloads and white papers on a wide variety of technology topics.

The downloads directory offers free, trial and evaluation versions of software for functions including case management, calendaring, security and virus protection. The white papers directory provides direct links to consultant and vendor papers.
