Equity partners in U.S. law firms earned an average of $319,000 in 2003, a 6.6% increase from 2002, according to the 2004 edition of Survey of Law Firm Economics produced by Altman Weil Publications (Newtown Square, PA). On a per lawyer basis, law firm revenues increased 4% between 2002 and

2003, while expenses increased 4.2%, the survey reported. It also includes information on billing rates, billable hours and compensation. This year's survey contains information from 19,740 lawyers from 348 law firms. It costs $755. The Small Law Firm Economic Survey costs $415.

The Association of Trial Lawyers (ATLA; Washington, D.C.) and Verdict-Search, a division of American Lawyer Media (ALM; New York), have formed an alliance that enables ATLA's New Lawyer members to utilize and subscribe to VerdictSearch's online and print verdict and settlement data at reduced rates.
