Thanksgiving Festivities

As you all know, Thanksgiving is this Thursday. As an office manager, it is usually your job to plan the holiday festivities. There are many offices taking the entire week off, however, the majority of offices take off Wednesday afternoon after lunch, so this is the perfect day to plan a workplace luncheon.

For Thanksgiving, have the company cater the main dishes for the luncheon, along with drinks and all paper products and have employees bring side dishes and desserts. This is a nice gesture and one that will be greatly appreciated by the employees.

As managers, this is a wonderful opportunity to go around and personally thank every one of your employees for the work they are doing on behalf of the company. I can´t express enough how much it means for an employee to hear positive feedback from their supervisors. It really does boost employee morale.

Make sure your employees know that if they do not show up for the luncheon, they will not receive the rest of the day as paid leave. I have worked for larger companies where this happens quite often, spoiling the benefits for those who do participate. Of course you don´t want employees to feel like the festivities are an obligation, but if they choose not to participate, they also choose not to reap the benefit of the paid leave time"?¦.fair enough?

For all of you, have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving!

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." ~ John Fitzgerald Kennedy
