Dr Manfred Wolf.

We regret to report the death of Manfred Michael Wolf, Director of Wolftechnology, Zurich, Switzerland.

Dr Wolf suffered a heart attack last November. Although released from hospital, he never made a full recovery and died on 11 April, one day before his 64th birthday.

Wolf was well known for his expertise in continuous casting. He was one of the founder developers within Concast before setting up his own consultancy firm.

He was also well known for his contributions to historical metallurgy. Among his many technical writings and presentations, the `History of Continuous Casting' published in the Iron & Steel Society 75th Steelmaking Conference Proceedings in 1992, presents an exceptional account of the development of continuous casting.
