SOLECTRON SHIFT TO AGUADA.

One of two contract manufacturing plants belonging to Aguadilla's Solectron will be transferred in August to a 110,000 sq ft complex that also accommodates Solectron division Smart Modular Technologies, said Jorge Rodriguez, Smart Worldwide Operations v.p. and Solectron general manager, reports

Caribbean Business (June 25, 2002). Solectron will continue operating one contract manufacturing plant in Aguadilla for Alcatel and Motorola products. The second operation will be transferred to a 26,000 sq ft building in Aguada that is leased from the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Co. The two operations together have between 950 and 1,200 employees. Solectron has full manufacturing contracts for the next two months, but its prospects after August are more bleak, said Rodriguez.
