Spokane Public Schools has selected two Spokane-area general contractors to construct replacement buildings for Ridgeview and Lidgerwood elementary schools.

Mark Anderson, the district's associate superintendent of school support services, says that Bouten Construction Co. has landed a $7.1

million contract to tear down and rebuild Ridgeview Elementary, which is located at 1515 W. Joseph, on Spokane's North Side. T.W. Clark Construction LLC has received a $6.3 million project at Lidgerwood Elementary, at 325 E. Rowan, also on the North Side.

The school district will select a contractor this week to replace Lincoln Heights Elementary School, on Spokane's South Hill at 3322 E. 22nd, he says.

Work on all three schools is scheduled to start in June, and all are expected to be completed before the start of the 20062007 school year.

The new elementary schools will vary in size depending on the amount of land available for each project. The new Lincoln Heights school will be the largest of the three, with 55,000 square feet of floor space. Ridgeview will include 48,000 square feet of floor space, and at 42,000 square feet, Lidgerwood will be the smallest.

Lidgerwood, Lincoln Heights, and Ridgeview have been designed, respectively, by Madsen Mitchell Evenson & Conrad PLLC, Integrus Architecture PS, and ALSC Architects PS, all of Spokane.

For the 2005-2006 school year, students at each of the three elementary schools will be bused to other schools within the district.
