Worth A Visit - faxZERO

Sometimes a real detriment to productivity can be the lack of proper equipment. For example, I hit a bit of a speed bump every time I need to send a fax. I have a fax machine, but it´s an old dinosaur and I don´t keep it hooked up. I very rarely need to use it, and it takes up a lot of space, so I keep it in the closet. When I do need it, I have to pull it out, hook it up, remind myself again how to use it, and then send my fax off. It´s so old

It´s so old that I´m sure that the quality of the fax isn´t as good as it could be, either. This morning, an e-mail arrived in my inbox which is the answer to my faxing dreams. It´s a simple web app called faxZERO. All you have to do is go to the web page, enter in your contact information, and the number of the person you want to fax, attach the Word file or PDF, add a note if you want to, and send it off. The best part is that it is absolutely free to anywhere in Canada or the U.S. You can send up to two free faxes per day, and each fax can be up to 15 pages long. There is a small ad put onto the cover page of the fax to offset the cost of the service, but in my quick test of the service the ad wasn´t inappropriate in any way, and it wasn´t anywhere close to enough to make the service unattractive or unprofessional. The main pages of your fax are untouched — just like you sent them. If the idea of an ad doesn´t appeal to you, or if you need to send more than two faxes per day, you can use the premium service for $1.99 per fax. This isn´t a solution for heavy users or for corporate situations, but if you are like me and you have a home office and you only very occasionally need to send a fax, then faxZERO may be just the thing you need.
