You may be returning to work after an absence for raising children or you might have children and may want to find a company that is a little more family friendly. So what can you ask during the interview process to determine whether the company offers family friendly perks? First of all, do they allow for creative scheduling? Can you go in early? Can you go in late? Can you work a four day work week rather than the traditional five? Also, do they have daycare on site? Daycare is an excellent option onsite for many reasons. What you need to find out is if they have daycare onsite, what are the hours? Will they help fund the daycare? Will they pay a portion of the cost so that you are not paying full daycare fee. And do they allow you to go down throughout the day? Can you go down and have lunch with your children? If you are still feeding an infant, can you go down for a feeding break? These are excellent questions to ask about daycare onsite. Finally, is telecommuting possible? Can you work from home one or more days of the week instead of going into the office? And this works great if you live away from the office or if you have children with a variety of schedules. You have to walk a fine line when asking these questions because you want to make sure the employee knows that you are interested in the job and not just the policies. But during the interview process, these are great questions to ask to determine if the company is family friendly.
