Knowlagent, a provider of contact center learning solutions, has announced the completion of a strategic acquisition intended to help the company corner the simulation segment of the e-learning market. During December 2002, Knowlagent acquired all of the assets of Simtrex Corporation, a provider of simulation-based learning solutions for contact center classrooms. It is hoped the acquisition will strengthen Knowlagent's e-learning suite, extending the value of its current simulation solution for the desktop with the addition of a classroom-based simulation solution. Knowlagent acquired all of Simtrex's product and intellectual property assets, including the company's StarTrainer product and several technology patents, which expand the company's library of technology directed at agent performance. Knowlagent currently owns two patents for its RightContent integration engine, which covers the automatic and manual assignment of training to agents based on individual performance scores, and a third patent for its RightTime integration engine, which takes advantage of both forecasted and unforecasted downtimes in call volumes. The transaction financially benefits Knowlagent immediately with the addition of Simtrex's customer base, which includes Hilton Reservations Worldwide, Coventry Healthcare, America Online, Dell Computers, Comcast Corporation and Mellon Bank. All employees, with the exception of senior management, have been transitioned to Knowlagent. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. www.knowlagent.com
