HCPro: Hospitals Vary in Spending, Costs for Overseas-Based Radiology Services; Study details...

MARBLEHEAD, Mass. -- U.S. hospitals are starting to experience the rewards of allowing overseas-based radiologists to read preliminary studies for CT and MRI, but hospitals differ regionally in how they carry out the service, including decisions related to equipment, doctors, contracts, and service

providers, a new market research report from HCPro reveals.

Twenty-five percent of the 133 hospitals HCPro surveyed use overseas-based radiologists, while 14% said they are strongly considering outsourcing MRI and CT preliminary reads by 2007. HCPro surveyed chief financial officers and radiology administrators for data presented in the report, The Overseas Radiology Guide (http://www.hcmarketplace.com/prod-3630.html).
