Southeast Michigan has an opportunity to reduce health care costs, but it's going to take the cooperation of all the region's major stakeholders, according to the Greater Detroit Area Health Council.

Detroit-based GDAHC aims to do just that through its Save Lives, Save Dollars initiative, which aims to save the region $500 million in health care costs, or reduce the rate of increase for health care spending by 1 percent to 3 percent through 2009.
