NC's biotech draws kudos.

Biotechnology and the North Carolina Biotechnology Center were lauded several times by speakers during Sen. Richard Burr's Health Care Summit in Durham Feb. 20.

Carmen Hooker Odom, N.C. Secretary of Health and Human Services and moderator of the event, listed biotechnology among the state's key achievements.

Dr. Elias Zerhouni, director of the National Institutes of Health, praised the state's biotechnology activity, which he cited as one reason North Carolina is an increasingly successful target for NIH funding, landing one grant for every 3 1/2 application
