CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 2002
ATG (Art Technology Group, Inc., Nasdaq: ARTG), a leading developer of online CRM applications for commerce, portals and relationship management, today announced that Clarian Health Partners,
Clarian Health Partners, which provides more than one million outpatient visits each year and consists of more than 1,300 physicians, launched the ATG solution to extend its reach to existing and potential customers. Clarian now enables its members to check on lab results, view health tips, seek out doctor referrals and billing options and send get well cards to patients staying in its network of hospitals. Additionally, when patients register on the site, they no longer have to spend hours searching for information on particular illnesses or diseases.
Powered by ATG Scenario Personalization(TM), the site collects patient information and then personalizes content for every member, providing them with health tips and relevant articles that match their health profile. Clarian expects to reduce a great deal of time currently spent talking with patients who were often misinformed because of overflowing and inaccurate information they located on the Web.
"Healthcare is all about the personal touch," said Tal Moise, vice president of business innovations for Clarian Health. "With ATG, we are able to take the personal approach we typically deliver through traditional means and extend it online. We launched the new site in November of 2001 and are already seeing a return on investment as well as an increase in the number of requests for appointments, physician referrals and searches for physicians in our network."
Urging patients to deal with health care organizations who offer online communication between hospitals, doctors and patients is one way companies are looking to reduce the escalating cost of healthcare, according to the Midwest Business Group on Health. Utilizing IT for such things as drug prescription systems can help eliminate handwriting errors and flag bad drug interactions that can cost $300 billion annually, according to a survey done by the group.
Moreover, a survey conducted in April by Harris Interactive states that 90 percent of patients with access to e-mail said they would like the ability to communicate with their physicians online, and more than a third said they would be willing to pay for it. With Clarian's adoption of the ATG portal system, they're enabling this idea to become a reality.
Through its use of ATG Portal, Clarian has enabled its network of hospitals to become more proactive with customers, providing online access to physician directories, billing options or medical records that previously were not available. ATG's secure platform and log-on features have helped Clarian meet HIPAA compliance regulations when communicating physician to patient.
"With more people using the Web every day to research everything from physicians to health issues, it is important for healthcare providers to distinguish themselves online without compromising the personal nature of the physician-patient relationship," said Matt Price, vice president of the portal business line, ATG. "Clarian turned to ATG to help them build powerful and lasting relationships with customers online, and provide them with the information they need to make informed decisions regarding their health."
As a result of the success of the portal site, Clarian quickly adapted ATG technology to service internal and external employees and business partners. In the coming months, Clarian will be leveraging the core ATG platform to deliver value to its network physicians and employees; including running eligibility for patients, submitting electronic payments to insurance companies and creating a call schedule for physician offices. These tools will not only streamline transactions between physicians and Clarian, but will also offer applications to improve their individual business efficiencies.
