Medical errors legislation proposed months ago on Capitol Hill has been living in committee limbo for the last seven months. However, the battle continues to rage in other quarters over how to reduce the number of errors, whether to mandate reportage of such errors and even whether the number of errors has been exaggerated.
The Institute of Medicine's (IOM) startling report last winter that medical errors have been responsible for as many as 98,000 deaths per year has led to a slew of forums, discussions and calls to move away from a culture of "shame and blame" and tow
