LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 24, 2001

Advanced Medical Products Inc. of Las Vegas, today announced that a U.S. Patent (U.S. Patent No. 6,224,618) will be officially issued May 1, 2001, related to the company's Arachnophlebectomy

Surgical Device.

The Arachnophlebectomy Surgical Device is a sterilized, disposable needle with a fork-like design and a beveled vortex that is used by physicians to destroy spider veins.

According to Advanced Medical Products, the device uses a simple procedure called the Miglin Method(TM). Usually performed in a physician's office with a local anesthetic administered to the area to be treated, the Arachnophlebectomy Surgical Device is inserted into the skin with the center of the needle's fork-like head capturing the targeted vessel.

The needle is rotated (at least 360 degrees clockwise and counterclockwise), transecting the spider vein. The procedure is repeated every 1 to 2 centimeters along the spider vein causing the vein to blanch and allowing the body to resorb the destroyed tissue.

"The creation of this Arachnophlebectomy Surgical Device is extremely significant because its unique fork-like design and beveled vortex make the treatment very simple and minimally invasive," said Cameron Stuart, president of Advanced Medical Products.

Clinical studies of the device and procedure have been conducted by teaching staff at Northwestern University in Chicago and the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas. According to preliminary reports, the Arachnophlebectomy Surgical Device is safe and effective in destroying spider veins with minimal side effects.

The device was introduced to the medical community in March at the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology in Washington, D.C.
