Capital Area RHIO Chooses Axolotl's Elysium Exchange to Power Michigan's First RHIO.
Mid-Michigan Health Information Exchange to Drive Community Empowerment for Achieving Better Health and Supporting Public Health
SAN JOSE, Calif. & LANSING, Mich. -- Capital Area Regional Health Information Organization (Capital Area RHIO) has selected Axolotl Corp. of San Jose, the leader in health information exchange (HIE) solutions, to deploy Elysium[R] Exchange for its RHIO - a coalition of public and private community members, including physicians, health systems, businesses, health plans and academic institutions from the tri-county area of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham in Mid-Michigan.
"With so many different kinds of data from multiple stakeholders and disparate information systems, Capital Area RHIO needed a HIE technology that could promote seamless information sharing, scale to accommodate new providers and more data, and integrate public health functions," said Brian McCardel, MD, Chairman of Capital Area RHIO. Participating organizations include Michigan State University, Sparrow Health System, Ingham County Health Department, Ingham Regional Medical Center, Hayes Green Beach Hospital, the State of Michigan, Lansing Community College, Capital Area Health Alliance, Community Mental Health and participating physicians.
Valerie Glesnes-Anderson, Executive Director of Capital Area Health Alliance, believes, "From day one we have engaged in a thorough and diligent process to map out our community's HIE needs and find a technology partner who could meet our specifications. Axolotl is a proven and experienced technology partner. Together we will build on the success of Axolotl's other communities nationwide to create a flourishing RHIO."
Through Capital Area RHIO, physicians will be able to securely share clinical information and communicate across organizations using Axolotl's Clinical Networking[TM] technologies in Elysium Exchange. All participating health organizations and physicians in the region will be connected, with full interoperability between disparate HIS and EMR systems. Physicians that do not currently use an EMR system will connect to the HIE using Axolotl's Elysium EMR, a hosted, software as a service solution with true e-prescribing and ordering. All authorized physicians will be able to access a comprehensive view of patient data via the Elysium Virtual Health Record (VHR). Lab results, radiology information, admission and visit records, discharge summaries, medication history, allergies, eligibility - all available patient data from across the continuum of care will be pulled together, virtually, to create a complete electronic health record. With a single click, this information is aggregated and displayed as an electronic patient chart, with different result types filed under different virtual tabs. The RHIO will also integrate syndromic surveillance into its HIE, the first of a number of planned public health functionalities.
