Feb. 5--For most of their careers, Dr. Amitabh Paharia and Dr. Arunima Shrivastava were paid by the Detroit Medical Center to practice at two of the health system's primary-care clinics in Detroit.
In October 2002, when the financially struggling DMC announced it was selling nine money-losing clinics in Detroit, the husband-and-wife team decided to lease one of the locations and set up their own practices.
