Employees at CarePlus Health Plans and its two subsidiaries received a $26 million surprise after the companies were sold recently to Humana Inc. CarePlus CEO Mike Fernandez and several investors decided to share part of the $408 million sale. Approximately 1,000 employees at Coral Gables-based CarePlus, its 10 CAC-Florida Medical Centers and PrescriblT Rx on-site pharmacies received windfalls ranging from a year's salary to a week's pay.
