Promising Results of Initial Clinical Studies forNymox's New Urinary Test for Alzheimer'sDisease.

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 1997--NYMOX (ME NMX.) Nymox corporation is pleased to announce promising results in initial double blind clinical trials of its new urinary test for Alzheimer's disease. The study has included patients with Alzheimer's disease, normal controls and other

neurological disease controls, from five different academic centers in the U.S.. "The results so far are very encouraging and extremely promising," said Dr. Hossein Ghanbari, Senior Vice President of Nymox.

"The Nymox urinary Alzheimer's test is an extension of Nymox's NTP technology which has already been shown in brain and spinal fluid studies to be the most accurate Alzheimer's marker available today. The urinary test shows huge potential to become a real ground-breaker in the global effort to overcome this disease. Therapy begins with accurate and objective clinical and laboratory diagnosis. The full results from our trials will be reported later at medical conferences," said Dr. Michael Munzar, Nymox's Medical Director.

The new test has been developed from Nymox's AD7C(TM) NTP based technologies and is entirely painless and non-invasive for the patient. The underlying basic NTP technology is derived from an ongoing licensing collaboration between Nymox Corporation and the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Nymox Corporation is based in Rockville, MD and in Montreal, Canada. In addition to its Alzheimer testing technologies, the company has six treatment entities targeted for Phase One testing in the next 12 to 18 months, and two new diagnostics in development. Nymox currently has begun to launch its AD7C(TM) cerebrospinal fluid Reference Laboratory test in the U.S. and in Europe for use in Alzheimer's disease. The Ad7C(TM) test was shown in multicenter clinical trials in 1996 to be as accurate as an autopsy in Alzheimer's disease. The full results from the AD7C(TM) spinal fluid studies will be made available through appropriate publication in a medical journal.

Nymox is listed on the Montreal Exchange under the symbol NMX.
