Regional Hospital Network Standardizes to Gain Operational Efficiency

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Sunquest Information Systems, Inc., a market leader in laboratory information systems, today announced that TriCore Reference Laboratories has purchased the Sunquest Laboratory Information System (LIS) to consolidate eight hospitals in one of its sponsor's regional networks with one enterprise solution. Two of the main hospitals in the network were already using Sunquest LIS and recommended that the other hospitals standardize on Sunquest to gain operational efficiency. Sunquest LIS was originally chosen by TriCore in 1999 for its functionality, ability to span multi-site labs and hospitals, ease of implementation, and Sunquest's strong reputation for service and support. TriCore now chooses to support additional facilities with Sunquest products for these same reasons.

New Mexico's largest medical reference laboratory, TriCore provides laboratory services to physicians, hospitals, nursing homes and companies that conduct workplace drug testing throughout New Mexico, eastern Arizona, southern Colorado, and west Texas. TriCore also uses Sunquest Clinical Financial, Blood Bank, Collection Manager, and Encompass.

"In 2007, TriCore assumed management of Presbyterian's regional rural hospital laboratories. We are deploying Sunquest LIS to help us achieve efficiencies and cost reductions, while we continue to deliver high quality test results," said Erv Klink, Ph.D., Chief Information Officer for TriCore Reference Laboratories.

"There is a growing trend with hospital networks and laboratories that service multiple sites to consolidate and standardize on their laboratory software to improve productivity and increase operational efficiency throughout their network," said Lisa Cutts, Vice President of Sales for Sunquest Information Systems, Inc.
