There's been a bunch of talk about the economic stimulus money  and the $787 billion that comes with it. It might make you think that all the funds are accounted for and that it's too late for your business to reap the benefit from this government spending. But that would be an incorrect assumption.

A report in last week's New York Times claims that the federal government has paid out less than 6% of the money – just $45.6 billion. With hundreds of billions of dollars left on the table, small business owners still have an excellent chance to participate in government contracting opportunities if they act now.

According to a recent press report, American Express OPEN, along with Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), have launched a series of podcasts and webinars designed to help small business owners learn the basics of federal contracting and ultimately submit winning bids. The series is available to all small business owners free of charge.

Plus they've created the OPEN BOOK: Government Contracting, a step-by-step information guide for small business owners at every stage of the contracting process that can help you navigate your way through the government contracting process.

If you're interested in how your company can benefit from government contracting, make sure you visit those two sites and take advantage of the resources.
