Portland-based Deca Architecture hires four, promotes Spurgin

Deca Architecture hired Laura Fix as a senior interior designer, Kristina Hauri as an intern architect, Aaron Whelton as an intern architect and Genevieve White as an administrative assistant. In addition, it has promoted Chris Spurgin to associate principal.

Fix previously worked for seven

years in San Francisco on large commercial, educational and municipal projects. She is currently working on projects for the Arlington Club and the Multnomah Athletic Club. She is a graduate of Michigan State University.

Hauri has five years of professional experience and previously worked for Thomas Hacker Architects and Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership. She will work on the Shaver Green project, a new 85-unit apartment building.

Whelton has nine years of professional experience and is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accredited professional. He will work on the International Student Center for the Korean Institute of Science and Technology. He holds a graduate degree from the University of California Los Angeles and has taught architecture at Woodbury University and the Los Angeles Institute of Architecture and Design.

White has a degree in planning, public policy and management from the University of Oregon and is a LEED accredited professional.

Spurgin was previously an associate with Deca. He is LEED accredited with thirteen years of professional experience. He is currently working on Shaver Green, the Neuberger Hall renovation at Portland State University and the Lincoln Restaurant.
