New OSHA asbestos rules now in effect. (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)

New rules focusing on increased worker protection mean more scrutiny for building owners, managers

New asbestos regulations took effect on Oct. 1. According to the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International, the rules focus on increased worker protection and mandate that owners and managers take action if asbestos is present in their buildings.
