Images - of the great firework show that lit up Hong Kong Harbor on June 30, 1997 and of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) tanks rolling into Hong Kong - are not so vivid any longer in the minds of most people who live outside Hong Kong. Life goes on in the former British Colony, which is now a Chinese Special Administrative Region (SAR). Hong Kong's leader, formerly a British-appointed Governor, is now a Chinese-appointed Chief Executive. This position is presently held by Tung Chee-hwa, a shipping magnate with busine
