Strapped by ever-increasing bandwidth demand and network congestion and confronted by a shortage of additional T1/E1 lines for communication links outside of the United States, DISA required a cost-effective solution to satisfy its bandwidth requirements. The purchase and implementation of Expand Networks' ACCELERATOR 4000 provided the DOD with bandwidth gains ranging from 150-200 percent. With the average domestic T1 line costing in excess of $17,000, the addition of the ACCELERATOR provides the organization with two additional T1/E1 lines for less than the price of one.
