Authentica's Content Security Software Selected as Breakthrough
Innovation for Department of Defense Transformation Efforts
Authentica, Inc., the premier provider of content security software for protecting intellectual property and confidential information, today announced that it has been named one of the most promising technology companies by the Pentagon's Office of Force Transformation (OFT). The OFT was established as part of President Bush's broad mandate to transform Department of Defense (DoD) agencies with cutting edge technologies to ensure an overwhelming and continuing competitive advantage for America's military.
The OFT has teamed with venture capital firms to identify promising technologies among commercial research and development efforts throughout the U.S. One of these firms, Tech Coast Angels, working with the OFT, invited 85 companies to participate in a Technology Showcase to educate the DoD on high-tech breakthroughs. Of these 85 companies, Authentica(R) was one of 17 that emerged as offering the most promising technology for the DoD's transformation efforts.
"Part of our mission is to broaden the DoD's capabilities base and to discover, create, or cause to be created new competitive advantages for our military. High-tech innovations coming out of commercial entities can help to establish new competitive areas and advantages. Because the venture capital community is so closely attuned to innovative and emerging companies, we teamed with venture capital firms to bring these new technologies and solutions to the DoD's attention at the Technology Showcase," said Scott Buchanan, transformation strategist at the Office of Force Transformation. "Authentica's digital information protection technology was selected based on a survey of our DoD agency customers."
"The Department of Defense and government intelligence agencies have been early adopters and users of Authentica's solutions," said Lance Urbas, CEO and president of Authentica. "They were among the first organizations to leverage our software to persistently protect, centrally track, and recall sensitive information that is distributed both internally and externally to other agencies. Our selection by the Office of Force Transformation further validates our solutions' added value to both defense transformation and Homeland Security."
