Naperville developers ready to fight impact fee increase

Naperville is one of the few Chicago-area suburbs with highway impact fees, meant to fund the construction and widening of roads serving new development. But the developers who pick up the tab are vowing to fight a 60% increase in those fees passed earlier this month.

The builder of a single-family home must now pay $2,645, up from $1,655. Commercial developers pay between $2,500 and $3,300 per 1,000 square feet of gross floor area.
