GovConnect upgrades the Broward County Clerk of Courts IVR

systems with an efficient end-to-end solution

services, announced today that it has partnered with Florida's Broward County Clerk of Courts to provide the agency with a state-of-the-art Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. The new technology will replace Broward County's current public access phone systems with a sophisticated voice response platform. This will allow citizens to reach the Clerk's Office 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. GovConnect's IVR system is one component of their overall AccessNet(TM) product, the company's multi-access call center solution. AccessNet supports public access and transaction processing via telephone, Internet, automated e-mail, and integrated Fax services. The Broward County installation has the capability to process thousands of incoming calls daily, meeting Broward County's current and future needs in a call center solution.

With a staff of 655 employees, the Broward County Clerk's Office is responsible for maintaining court records and files, attending trials and hearings, collecting fines and fees, and assisting both the judiciary and public sectors. Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale with satellite offices in Deerfield, Plantation and Hollywood, Florida, the offices serve a 1,197 square mile region of South Florida with a population of 1.3 million. The new IVR system will enable the Clerk's Office to streamline operations by combining several outdated systems into one central solution. This solution incorporates a new Broward County Clerk of Court's Consumer Information Guide, and the ability to check on the status of a citation or case, and pay a fine or ticket. It will also allow for the exponential growth expected in the coming years and improve customer service at the Clerk's Office.

Through the GovConnect partnership, the Broward County Clerk's Office will be given an effective turnkey solution to their problems. GovConnect will replace the agency's previous phone system with a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Windows NT Automated Voice Response system that has the capacity to handle 48 simultaneous calls. This system will enable communication between multiple host computers as well as provide access to the State of Florida's drivers' license systems. This will enable eligible citizens to reinstate their suspended licenses over the phone. GovConnect will also develop a phone center architecture to allow a live operator to answer calls during business hours and then switch to automated call processing after hours. With this new structure in place, Broward County Clerk's Office expects to have the ability to field more than 3,600 daily business calls, 20% more than current load, without resulting in busy signals or interruptions.
