Sep. 17--Thousands of cars, trucks and farm tractors crowd Atlantic Avenue's two lanes in western Palm Beach County each day, pushing west to U.S. 441 and east to Florida's Turnpike.
The road, built to carry 14,900 vehicles a day, now carries 17,800 daily during the busy winter season. Traffic on the road is growing at a rate of about 6 percent a year.
The congestion is due, in part, to the recent widening of U.S. 441.
