Apr. 8--Voters in Inglewood on Tuesday overwhelmingly rejected a bid by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to bypass the City Council and build a 1 million-square-foot, $140 million shopping center on a 60-acre tract of land in the Los Angeles suburb.
The development was to include a 150,000-square-foot Wal-Mart Supercenter. The company wanted to skirt zoning, traffic and environmental reviews.
