Feb. 17--Columbia City Council on Wednesday is expected to revamp the way it deals with derelict houses, after its threat to tear down a 79-year-old widow's home sparked an outpouring of support for her.
The city inspections department told Lela Metts in a letter that it could demolish her Farrow Road home without warning because the yard was messy and the trim needed repairs and paint.
