Macon, Ga., Council Approves $60,000 for Downtown Hotel Consultant.

Nov. 19--In a move aimed at laying the groundwork for a new hotel next to the Wilson Convention Center, the Macon City Council on Tuesday agreed to pay a consultant firm $60,000 to lure in a developer.

The City Council, in a 12-1 vote, agreed to pay the Webb Group, a Colorado consulting agency, $60,000.

City officials have longed discussed bringing in a hotel to help boost the city's tourism and convention trade and to help turn the convention center and adjacent Maco
