Aug. 2--Northeast Davidson County residents and committee members spoke out in opposition to plans to extend a major thoroughfare through the area Thursday.

The Northeast Davidson Area Plan Advisory Committee heard a transportation presentation and discussed the future westside thoroughfare. Plans for the road corridor are designed to ease traffic congestion along N.C. 68 and provide an additional north-south route through the city. But residents said plans to widen N.C. 109 and W. Lexington Avenue make the westside thoroughfare unneces
