As Congress idles, states enact health care laws, mandates.(Brief Article)

While Congress fiddled, states torched the health care landscape with more laws and mandates this year.

More than 10,000 health-related bills and amendments were introduced in 44 state legislatures and the District of Columbia, reports the Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA). Top issues affecting health plans included managed care reform, benefit mandates, and physician antitrust waivers.
