Old Cell Phones' New Calling Aids for Victims of Abuse in Virginia.

Apr. 10--Old cell phones can call up new hope.

Verizon Wireless this week touted the benefit of dumping cell phones during spring cleaning, because the phones and other wireless equipment can benefit domestic-violence victims and advocacy groups.

Since 1995, Verizon Wireless has collected more than 1 million used cell phones and accessories to be refurbished, recycled or resold.

Proceeds help buy wireless phones and service for women in domestic-violence
