There could be movement in the political impasse over Gov. Jennifer Granholm's cigarette-tax increase and Senate Republicans' jobs-growth bills.
Two key players - Senate Majority Leader Ken Sikkema, R-Wyoming, and state Treasurer Jay Rising - are scheduled to meet today to find common ground as Granholm continues to press for Senate passage of the House-approved 75-cent cigarette-tax increase.
The Senate Republican votes she needs could be scarce unless the tax is part of a broader package to address the short-term budget deficit
