Maryland Legislators Considering Bill to Allow Some Onsite Testing.

Proponents of onsite drug tests are hopeful that this time around they will succeed in getting Maryland to remove a ban on onsite devices.

Legislation pending in the state Senate by Senators Jean Roesser and John Astle, bill S. 652, would authorize onsite drug tests for pre-employment situations.

A similar measure was considered by the state Legislature in 1998. Proponents say it was opposed by the building trades industry and that lawmakers sought their support in the election year and so declined to pass the measure.
