Jun. 19--Latinos have surpassed blacks as the nation's largest minority, marking a milestone that foreshadows nationally what Californians have understood for years: from political clout to cultural influence, Latinos are reshaping the landscape.
Nationwide, Latinos of any race now account for about 13.4 percent of the population; blacks about 13.3 percent, according to the latest Census Bureau estimates released Wednesday.
