TheScience, the first content syndicator in the teen-science space, today announced three members of its newly formed advisory board. Dr. Leon Lederman, Nobel prize-winning physicist; Mrs. Ann Korando, a

director at the award-winning Science Service; and the Honorable Richard V. Allen, international business consultant, bring their expertise to a board comprised of leaders from the technology, science, and entertainment industries.

Internationally renowned high-energy physicist Dr. Leon Lederman has made great advances in the understanding of particles and interactions. He spent more than three decades at Columbia University and is now director emeritus of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Ill. Currently he is the Pritzker Professor of Science at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and Resident Scholar at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora, a 3-year residential public high school for gifted children. Dr. Lederman has served as chair of the Governor's Science Advisory Committee in Illinois and now chairs the Teachers Academy for Mathematics and Science - an organization he founded to enhance the professional development of primary school teachers in Chicago. Dr. Lederman is the recipient of numerous awards including the Enrico Fermi Prize given by President Clinton (1993), the Nobel Prize in Physics (1988), and the National Medal of Science (1965).

For the past eight years, Mrs. Ann Korando has served as Director of Development and Public Relations for Science Service, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the public understanding and appreciation of science. Ms. Korando has facilitated international partnerships, secured extensive financing, and helped create a variety of programs for the advancement of science education. Awarded the 2000 National Science Board award for public service, Science Service's accomplishments include initiating the Summit on Science, a first ever collaboration of government, corporate and non-profit sectors to campaign for the importance of science literacy.

Mr. Richard V. Allen has more than 30 years of experience in government and international affairs. Mr. Allen was National Security Advisor to President Reagan and a senior staff member of the National Security Council under President Nixon. He was a founding member of the United States National Committee for Pacific Basin Economic Cooperation, and he served as a member of the President's Commission on International Trade and Investment Policy. Mr. Allen is now an international business consultant and a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution, and Peace at Stanford University. He is also an advisory board member of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.
