Award Recognizes Community Build Day Chairman's Success

WASHINGTON -- Richard K. Davis, President and CEO of U.S. Bancorp and Chairman of The Financial Services Roundtable's 2007 Community Build Day initiative, has been awarded the President's Lifetime Volunteer Service

Award.

"President George W. Bush issued a call to service to all Americans in his 2002 State of the Union Address and challenged all of us to join the armies of compassion, rendering service to a cause greater than self," commented Kathy Wills Wright, Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of USA Freedom Corps at the White House. "Richard is a great hands on leader that personally motivated thousands of people to participate, which is why he is being honored with the President's Lifetime Volunteer Service Award."

Davis chaired the tremendously successful 2007 Community Build Day, where more than 76 Roundtable member companies mobilized more than 26,500 people to volunteer in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, collectively built 78 homes, repaired an additional 96 homes, supported 116 school supply drives, 27 food and clothing drives, and 27 walks/runs.

"Community Build Day is the physical manifestation of what our member companies do throughout the year to build their communities," said the Roundtable President and CEO Steve Bartlett. "And I can't think of anyone who is more deserving of this award."

The Financial Services Roundtable represents 100 of the largest integrated financial services companies providing banking, insurance, and investment products and services to the American consumer. Member companies participate through the Chief Executive Officer and other senior executives nominated by the CEO.

Roundtable member companies provide fuel for America's economic engine, accounting directly for $65.8 trillion in managed assets, $1 trillion in revenue, and 2.4 million jobs.

The Housing Policy Council and 15 of its member companies have partnered with NeighborWorks[R] America and the Homeownership Preservation Foundation in a national effort to prevent foreclosures and preserve homeownership. The hotline, 888-995-HOPE and website, www.995hope.org, are available 24/7 to any homeowner in America having trouble paying their mortgage. Homeowners in distress will receive absolutely free foreclosure prevention counseling by expert counselors at HUD approved agencies. A national Ad Council campaign promoting the hotline rolled out in June 2007. For more information, please visit www.ForeclosureHELPandHOPE.org.
