SACRAMENTO, CALIF. -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in late September vetoed AB2496, a bill passed by the California legislature that would have mandated the use of 1.3-gal. per flush water closets and 0.5-GPF urinals.
In its letters to the governor seeking a veto, Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors--National Association noted its long-standing support for water conservation, but indicated that the 1.3-GPF models should be subject to field testing before being mandated by the state legislature.
