ECLIPSE AVIATION CORPORATION ACHIEVES FRICTION STIR WELDING MILESTONE.

Eclipse Aviation Corporation announced that friction stir welding has been used in the successful assembly of the lower cabin of the first Eclipse 500 jet. The company is the first to use friction stir welding in production on thin gauge aircraft aluminum.

"While we have been completing friction stir welds using production tooling and thin materials for some time now," said Vern Raburn, president and CEO, "assembling one of the components for the first Eclipse 500 jet is a very significant milestone."
