X Prize for 1st Private Manned Space Launch Attracts Competition by 27 Teams.

February 9, 2004 - The X Foundation of St. Louis, Missouri says that 27 teams have entered the competition for its X Prize of a $10 million prize.

Burt Rutan's SpaceShipOne/White Knight vehicle set has received the most publicity and has conducted test launches, but there are many others. [See our prior reports on that.]
