Montgomery, Ala., civic center to remain open for military conference.

Aug. 27--Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright said the city will play host to the Air Force Information Technology Conference in 2005 while sticking with plans to transform the Montgomery Civic Center property into a convention center and theatre complex with a four-star hotel.

Bright said the idea now is to keep the existing Civic Center building operable enough to accommodate the biggest military air power meeting and trade show of its kind in the country.
