My 9-year-old son, Joe, has been studying local government as a part of his third grade social studies class. As I helped him study for his tests on various community services, I was impressed by the content of his lessons and how thoroughly they explained Wisconsin's local government structure in language third graders could understand, but I was terribly disappointed that public transportation was nowhere on the radar screen as a community service.
