CENTERVILLE, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2003
Management & Training Corp.'s director of corrections business development, Lane McCotter, has been granted a leave of absence in order to lend his expertise to the reconstruction
"This is a truly historic moment and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to assist people in need," said McCotter. "I look forward to serving my country and the Iraqi people. I appreciate the graciousness of MTC in allowing me this leave of absence."
McCotter will travel to the Middle East next week and remain there about six months. "The criminal justice team will first assess the Iraqi corrections system and then help implement improvements as needed," McCotter said. "I expect to return to Utah in the fall. The entire reconstruction effort will probably take much longer."
McCotter began his Management & Training Corp. career in 1998. Before that he was the state corrections department director in Utah (1992-97), New Mexico (1987-91) and Texas (1985-87). Prior to that McCotter served the United States Army for 22 years. He retired from the military, as a full colonel, in 1984. All totaled McCotter carries more than 30 years of corrections expertise into this international assignment.
"Management & Training Corp. prides itself in hiring only the best and most experienced people," said CEO Scott Marquardt. "Certainly that describes Lane McCotter. Our corporation will miss him both personally and professionally. But MTC fully supports this service to the United States and Iraq. We look forward to Lane's safe return."
