VIENNA, Va. -- Agency Success with RetrievalWare(R) and Unique Search Features Drives Expanded Deployment
Convera Corporation (NASDAQ:CNVR), a leading provider of search and categorization software for enterprises and government agencies, today announced the company has won a multi-million
The search and discovery platform will be made available throughout the FBI network at agency headquarters and field offices. Convera's RetrievalWare will allow FBI analysts to search quickly and effectively throughout the agency's massive counter-terrorism and Automated Case Systems databases, extracting specific intelligence data to help analysts respond to homeland security threats.
Convera has previously recorded license fees associated with this transaction in its first quarter of Fiscal Year 2005 and will continue to realize annual maintenance revenues for the software licenses across the term.
Two factors strongly influenced the new FBI agency-wide contract:
-- The success of the RetrievalWare discovery platform within the
agency's new Investigative Data Warehouse (IDW).
FBI analysts have reported that RetrievalWare is playing a
critical role in helping them manage IDW investigative data.
Created after the events of September 11th, the Investigative Data
Warehouse (IDW) was built to improve intelligence sharing across
multiple government agencies managing terrorist and homeland
security activity.
-- The real-time notification, video search and language features
offered by RetrievalWare.
The FBI's decision to select Convera for the contract was greatly
influenced by RetrievalWare's ability to notify analysts when a
new document matching their search query is added to a database.
This "personalization of notifications" will help alert analysts
automatically when relevant new intelligence data enters the
system.
Also impacting the decision for the new contract was
RetrievalWare's flexibility to search video and audio archives and
the additional capability to search in more than 45 different
languages, including Middle Eastern, Asian and European languages.
"Convera is pleased to extend its relationship with the FBI and build on the intelligence value already realized from RetrievalWare by the agency's many analysts and agents," said Patrick C. Condo, President and CEO, Convera. "We look forward to continuing to work with the FBI and related agencies, including organizations at the state and local level, to address their intelligence gathering and evidence analysis needs."
